Well, here we are in the Grande Place looking pretty smart I must say. Very nice young Japanese gentleman took this one, as I steroetypically thought he might be able to handle the camera without freaking out. At this distance we could easily pass for a pair of youngsters, so he must have been pretty good with the camera.

Our wonderful art work at the hotel turned out to be rather conceptual in nature. On arrival we assumed our pictures had been removed, snapped up by another tourist perhaps. Then Sue discovered a little plaque on the wall that explained that the empty frame next to the window mirrored the window itself, and that the dark blue one next to it was the night. Silly old us, funny we didn't immediately realise that. There was another one in the bathroom, I can't remember what that symbolised, steam perhaps. And the man had won prizes for this !

Trying to get our head round all this culture obviously did us no good whatsoever, as we left the hotel and headed for the Grande Place. This picture was taken several hours later, after a lengthy yomp out to the suburbs. I never did claim to have a sense of direction, and there's a very good reason for that. After a lot of searching for glasses and peering at maps we eventually caught the metro and headed back into town. Time to dust off our French accents and stun the locals with our eloquence.
